Blue Lake at Sunrise, St. Bathans, 2009
Blue Lake in St. Bathans, Otago is a man-made lake as a result of gold mining. Miners have shaped these hills in this now sleepy town. In its heyday St. Bathans bustled with activity with the allure of gold attracting many wealth seekers from all over the world. Today it is quiet. It is perhaps my favourite place to photograph in the South Island. The reflections on the lake make this place a beautiful spot to capture the days first rays of sunlight.
