Description

Kupe Natural Gas Field, Tasman Sea, 2012

This photograph was made as part of my ‘Zealandia: Views from the Peak?’ series, which was an exploration of the oil and gas industry in New Zealand.

It was shot using a 4×5 film view camera leaning out of the window of a 2 man cessna airplane off the coast of Taranaki.

Those familiar with the 4×5 film process will understand that it is a pretty cumbersome process as large dark slides have to be inserted into the camera back. Typically 4×5 view cameras are used on tripods to shoot landscapes. I felt the 4×5 process was necessary to enable the large 1m x 1.2m prints for this project.

It was a beautiful day flying off the Taranaki Coast that day. The skies were clear and Mount Taranaki was visible in all of its majestic glory.

Framing

All prints are supplied unframed. This is to avoid any damage during shipping. I am happy to advise you on my suggested framing method. For more information please contact me via email at peter@peterevansphotography.co.nz
